Question On The S15 Conversion..,

THE WORD I GOT OUT THERE IS THAT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A BOLT ON KIT, I WOULD STILL NEED TO DO SOME WORK TO THE FRAME AND WHAT NOT. FOR ALL THOSE SI5 COVERSION ON THEIR 89-94 S13 OWNERS, IS THAT TRUE OR IS IT REALLY A NON HASSLE BOLT ON KIT. THE PERSON I GOT THE WORD FROM WAS MY MECHANIC AND A GOOD FRIEND WHO NOW LIVES IN FLORIDA. HELP A BROTHA OUT...LOL.

1)you will have to re weld your hood latches or make custom brackets.

2) you will have to make custom headlight brackets if you are using S13 core support

3) you MUST know how to work with fiberglass

for the most part, it IS bolt on, but there is some fabrication needed.

mine should be done here in the next 3 weeks. im short on time

Question LEMME ASK YOU THIS...

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR CONVERSION FROM AND HOW MUCH WAS IT. I'M SEEING ABOUT $3000 FOR ALL THE PLACES I'VE BEEN LOOKING. THE TWO I'M CHOOSING ARE BETWEEN THE C WEST & THE R33 (GROUND DYNAMICS IS THE ONLY PLACE I TALKED TO THAT HAVE THE R33 KIT).

[PREVIEW OF THE R33 NOT AVAILABLE]

ANOTHER THING IS ARE YOU DOING YOURS YOURSELF? CUZ I CAN PROBABLY DO IT ALL EXCEPT FOR THE WORKING WITH FIBERGLASS PART. THAT I DON'T HAVE MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH.

imo, you can piece together a conversion kit including a full aero kit.

here are some prices im gonna throw out there + shipping unless noted

CF hood-$400
Aftermarket bumper-$470(Bomex)
Headlights $750 shipped
Conversion fenders $250(gtp)-$600(masa)

I paid $2200 for a full authentic Bomex Aero kit with S15 CF hood

$1300 for S15 headlights and JDM Kouki tails

i'm sure there are better prices, but i was ready to have my stuff on order. I recieved my kit in less than 2 weeks but waited NEARLY 3 months for my fenders! i actually just got them today!

just some advice to people who want to do this conversion...

dont cheap out...
gotta pay to play

K i've been getting quotes from locol body shops this is an average of getting it really done right.
The price includes:
--To re-lay the GTP fiberglass fenders to match up perfectly to where the fender meets the roof line.(they are not a very good fit out of the box, big gaps)
--To take off the stock radiator support and but the new one on.
--To repaint the doors along with the fenders and bumper to match perfect(my paint has a pearl that has to be blended to match)
--And to make everything look as if it came from the factory is roughly
$4,000 This quote is about the same anywere i go. I've gotten five quotes from different shops. And they average $4,000. Obviously i'm still shopping around, while the s15 parts collect dust in my garage.
BTW it took 3 months for my fenders to come too

So basically, between parts and labor, your S15 conversion is going to run upwards of $7000! not to mention the price of your car?

Basically, i'm gonna wait to do that conversion ... stick with the lazy eyes ... get either a '95+ 180sx dress up from a junk yard in japan or just get a body kit. I already have the kouki tails which cost me 500 including shipping total. Money is tight considering the fact i quit my job out in the hamptons, but i rebounded with my old job at the car stereo shop.
