Question Replacing stock wing?

Ok here is the deal I recently picked up my 91 Hatch that has no rust and I would like to keep it that way. I have been reading alot about the rust problems caused by the stock foam wing and want to replace mine (don't like the look of it much anyway).

The wings I really like on the car are the Type X and the Wangan. Will the Wangan have the same problems as the stock wing for holding water under it? Also does anyone know if either of the wings use the same mounting holes as the stock wing? Any other wings that look good on these cars that will mount to the stock holes? Hate the idea of bondoing it up.

By the way I live in Oregon hence the reason I worry about the water and rust thing so much

I know for sure the Wangan style wing uses SOME factory holes but on my friends 92 we had to drill more to make sure it stayed solid on the trunk... if you seal up the edges of the wing where it touches the trunk with weatherstripping it might keep out water (not sure)... no idea about the Type-X deal though.

I recently took off my stock foam spoiler (do you rust) and replaced it with the Type-X and it doesn't use any of the stock holes.

no we get rust here all the time from all the damn rain, and it makes it even worse that i don't have a garage right now (i hate my apartment complex) so my car has to sit out in the weather!

so i don't want to tempt it at all. i spend alot of time at the coast aswell. i'm sure it is worse on the east coast but i don't wanna take my any chances.

Yea the stock spoiler sucks, I have a 91 240SX and the car is perfect, except where the spoiler was wet under neath, it looked horriable when I took it off but there was actually only two lil spots of rusts that I can touch up, the new spoiler I have im going to have to create new holes, whats the best way to do this professional

I'm having the same problem with the nastey foam spoiler. I'm thinking of just puttin in some body filler to patch up the holes for now. Then when i have the time n $, i'll get a new wing n drill more holes into it (hahahaha).
Dont get a wing... think of em as speed holes (j/k)

Dude, if they're speed holes, I have a super speedy car. Refer to this to understand what I mean. http://www.club240.com/forums/showth...threadid=13180

I really have no idea. It could be aftermarket, but I really don't know. i bought it without the spoiler. been trying to find out which one fits for the longest amount of time.

For god's sake, do not use bondo to patch up all the holes the stock foam wing leaves. Weld little plugs into the holes and then add a skim coat of bondo to it. Do it right the first time and you wont regret it later when the filler doesn't crack. You might be able to do it with some fiberglass work, but I dunno. Your best bet would be to make a friend that has a welder. Here are a few pics for your enjoyment...

ive never done any bodywork and figured bondo was the 'fix any hole thing'. i know its commonly associated with beaters, but spoiler holes i figured it might be appropriate.
