rhd silvia conversion?

Has any one on this board done a full jdm silvia conversion?
rhd, front end conversion, engine everything to make it jdm.

Intersted to see what they spent? and how many were done?
You think it would be cheaper to import one and switch the tags
(i wouldn't do that)

thanks, brandon

i think it would be easier to do the conversion your-self. tryin to import a j-spec car ain't as easy as people think. you not only have to get it out of customs but out of japan. there is shipping, duty fees and regular sales tax. then miles of red tape to get it on a trailer to bring it home.
www.motorex.net
makes it seem easy but they wait like 4 weeks to get it out of customs alone.
my advice would be to find an importer and get a nice, complete front clip and do most of the RHD conversion yourself. this is my ultimate goal so i've done some math to it. you can swap about 85% of it from the clip. front crossmember, motor, tranny, dash, pedal ***.,steering rack, master cyl, gauge cluster, suspension componets, vacume hoses, probaly most or all of the wire-harness, steering colum(saitches, digital climate control, mabey even mirrors), and the all elusive body panels w/lights.
like i said find the right company and get a full complete clip. 2 months in the driveway and your almost ready to stop drive throughs all together

shoot, did yousee the motorex spot? they want 16,000 to legalize an R32.
if the s13 or 14 isn't your daily driver the the whole point is to have the ultimate project car. why not????
spend 16,000 for the S15 at the least, then half that getting it here, off the boat and outta customs. then spend god knows how much to get it legal.

i know i like JDM styling. so badges, tail lights, and engines are gravey but to do the RHD conversion would be the truth. as much as you want to fronT a car of this calibur is OFFICIAL

what the hell is the point in making it rhd? is the government going to change the roadways because it is mAd PIeeeMP y0!? if it's to be unique, it's just a waste of time unless there is a purpose for it. you going to start delivering mail?

I agree that making a car RHD is probably a lot more difficult than it seems. You will have to get all RHD dash board components and move the steering wheel column and pedals, blah blah blah, just doesn't make as much sense as importing one if you ask me.

Customs + car +shipping = Headaches + parts + driveability isues

I would rather go with the left side of the equation on this one.

I don't like flame posts but damn that is a good one.

The guys in the queens shop all want their 240 friends to do rhd swaps. I think it would be cool if you had a show car and wanted to get some more points.

there is a purpose for it.
i'll have to figure a good one out for your highness
why not? forget mail.
i'd want something fun and proper to drive.

the front clip comes with almost all you need to make the conversion tight. the dash, steering colum, gauge cluster, climate controls, pedal assembly-all that.
you(people in general) look at this in the same sense as the RB26 swap. half ask "what for?" others look at it from another point of view.
like the 91+ have the intercooler templet under the airbox. it can and will be done. don't flip on me cuz i explore the possibility. after all it is a possibility, right? so explore and try to make it easier for the guy who has ***** enough to make it happen

I say go for it. If you complete it you will be able to help others who are also interested in the swap.

battlestylespl if you dont have anything to say that anyone gives a **** about hearing, why do you even bother to click the post reply button?

People have their own ideas of what they like, just because you like something different doesnt give you a right to insult them.
