Rust spots..

I have some horrible rust spots on my silvia. They are where the frame touches the pillow mounts?? (ok I can't remember the name where the suspension bolts-up). Anyway i was wondering if I could just grind the rust, and do nothing.. or maybe slightly tig weld it? I dunno.. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else had this problem, and how they solved it.

Here's the ugly one ->

thanks!

i found this stuff called rust mort, its a liquid you put on rust spots and it counteracts the oxidation that caused it in the first place. the stuff works great and it can be found at most stores that sell autobody supplies. i believe its a 3m product but not sure about that it might be another brand as well.

So it will reverse the effect of the rust and turn this into shiny metal again? or it will just stop the rusting process?

Go to walmart or any automotive store like auto zone and ask for rust preventatives and rust inhibitors. They'll direct you to the right isle where you can pick out sprays for rust. They WONT return your things back into SHINY metal, because its not exactly a miracle worker, but it will however STOP the rust from spreading. Some sprays do turn into hard black metal which u can sand and paint over. Which is good! I suggest you fix this as quick as possible, before anymore damage is inflicted to your left shocks. Good luck!

by the way, i suggest you replace the nuts on the shocks, that thing looks rusted to the core. DO NOT spray the stop-rust stuff on it. Just replace them.
