Shedding some light

I guess this would go under style, but that's not what I'm asking about.

My base doesn't come with a sunroof/moonroof, so I decided to use this to my advantage...
I was thinking of going removable hard-top on my 240. It just seems so damned crampted in there. What i want to know is, if I put say, for instance, a 6 point rollcage inside, would the structrural integrity still be comprimised? I mean, is the roof just gonna collapse or what? I was thinking of going from the windshield to the front of the B pillar, really, above to whole door.

links,stories or information???

I'd definaltely add something. The few convertables had to be beefed up with about 200lbs of extra crap to make up for the missing strength of the top. I think the cage would kind of kill the feeling of being in a convertable though.

i dont think so, it would still be like a really big sunroof. But does anyone know of this being done to ANY hardtop? I saw an eclipse whose roof colapsed, and i didnt want to follow in their wrong footsteps...whatever that may be. i did some googling and found nothing, so that's why I came here.

any help appecaited

Kinda like a Targa top. Thatd be hot, but I'd really suggest the roll cage because the roof is an important part of structural integrity.

Exactly. I got the idea when I waslooking at an old mk3. think it would look good, but I'm not sure where the roof peice would be stored

Thats a dumb idea.

Cut a hole in the roof to make a sunroof or what ever you want to make.

Hmm well last time I heard a cage does not mess up the structural integrity, seeing how you know race car drive have them in the car.

Why ruin a car?

I wasn't asking if the cage would affect the integrity. i was asking if the cage would compensate for the strength lost with the loss of the roof.

Oh, and I edited the 1st post. I dont want any opinions, cause honestly I could care less. "Dumb idea" or not, I like the idea.

I just want to know if anyone has heard of this going right, or wrong that is all
