side strips

Hey. Does anyone if the little black stripes on the 89 hatchbacks is just glued on or pop/pinned on. I would like to take them off. If anyone has taken them and knows what i should use (heat gun, good gone?)

thanks for the help.

if they aren't too brittle you could heat gun it slowly and it'll peel right off

yeah I have that BS around my fenders too. Took a hair dryer, some time, and some rubbing compound and it looks soooo much better now...

It was a pain getting the risidual glue off the paint tho...

couldn't you heat gun it off of the car, then wash it and use a clay-bar to help with the residue, then wax and buff it all when you're done? I don't think that would be too hard, but then again I don't have a 240 yet

Acetone will take off the residue with out damaging the paint. Just put some on a CLEAN rag and scrub away!

mine seems baked on ... an hour of goo remover and razor will get a few inches off for me. my bro tried this erasure thing and took off some clear coat. most likely i'll get a paint job in the far future.

use your thumb. I had mine half taken off, and I took my car back to the body shop for another issue. and the dude was like, just use your thumg it's faster, and within minutes he had done 1/2 the work that took me like an hour... I was like

you can use a 50/50 mix of acetone and denatured alcohol to take it off. won't set in long enough to eat the paint, and it works for clear plastics too.

On my 90 240sx, the top layer of the strip comes off but it leaves a flat black color strip underneath, and I cant seem to get that off!
