how much boost..........

Ok here's the rundown of what my car has for mods.

92 240
red top SR
T28 off of a gti-r
starion fmic
aftermarket turbo o2 housing
stainless downpipe
test pipe apexi N1
Blitz bov and air filter
wastegate boost which is 10psi
Everything is otherwise stock SR stuff

What I wanna know is how much boost i can safely run and what octane fuel i should be running? I want to get a baseline 1/4 mile time with this set up which is how i got the car. before any mods.Any answers fellas?

stock injectors running 16- 18 psi i really don't think that is safe . Get a wide band or something to monitor your fuel something to have a guide or a dyno tune with there wide band . Don't just guess at when you might blow your engine .

lI dont want to run to the max that the injectors will flow. Im guessing they will be my biggest set back. I am more after what I can Safely turn it up to.

I know its probably voodoo and all but I was always taught not to push your injectors past about 80% duty cycle. The begin to hang up and lose accuracy if you push them too far.

i would get a dyno tune if your not going to have a way to monitor your a/f .Because it can be 10psi it can be 8 psi it can be 15psi with out knowing your a/f you dont know when your getting leaned out The one thing i learned is boost cost to be reliable . And you could also try googling it to see what pops up .

Get bigger injectors and get it tuned. Better to spend the money now and get the tune than be broke-down somewhere wishing you would have!

I would invest in at least a wideband. I know the SR can safely handle 13PSI all day. Maybe 15 down the track. Also if your going to be running higher boost, get colder plugs to prevent predet. Always run at least 92 octane. I run 93 and before drifting events, I put in 94.

look, i know the answer to these questions....

a good safe hihg boost for a stock tune is around 12psi, any more than that on a stock ECU isn't safe as it's fuel map is actally for the stock 10lbs (yes, in the cars, the motors actually have 10lbs and not the 7 everyone thinks they are), anything more than 12-13psi and you start leaning out....

i have the same turbo you have, granted mine is upgraded, built and fully customized by my local turbo specialist, your GTIR turbo is good stock to about 17-20lbs, mine is good to 22lbs, i wouldn't recommend running that high on a stock SR anyways... the stock head gasket starts to fail around 17-18lbs, so for reliability, stay well under that and you should be fine....

i currently have a setting on my EBC for 16.9lbs on "Hi" and a daily 11.5lbs to keep it safe... i also have a Tuned ECU for maxxed out EVERYTHING, and my injectors are probably at around 90% duty cycle, and my stock maf is just about maxxed out... i ran a 13.3 in the 1/4 with my tune, bad launch, and spinning in 2nd gear, with my tuned ECU and pulsar turbo, with my EBC dialed in, i'm capable of mid/high 12's...

as a senseless plug.. my tuned ECU is also for sale, $250... lmk lol
