sr maf? bov?
Okay, so i just got my motor today and there a few concerns. 1) there is no maf and 2) there is no bov. so what maf can i use thats cheap (maybe a ka maf?) and what kind of bov can I use. I read somewhere that a non-recirc bov is bad for a stock sr?? I dunno if thats true. Thanks.

I am not a SR guy but from what I have seen, SR guys use KA24E mafs on their swaps. I'm sure one of them will chime in and elaborate.
As far as the BOV is concerned, yes you want to recirculate it. Your maf meters the air going to your motor so when you blow off to the atmosphere the ecu doesn't know to meter less fuel into the motor than needed so you end up with a rich condition that causes the motor to bog on blow off. Just connect the outlet of the bov somewhere between the maf and turbo on your intake. This keeps the air in the system and prevents it from being metered twice. Alternately, you can vent to the atmosphere by running a blow-thru system. The most common way I see this done is by placing the maf in the cold pipe and the bov on the hot pipe. This way the maf only meters air going directly into the motor. I've heard mixed reviews about blow-thru systems but for mild boost applications they seem to work well and help with throttle response.

SR mafs are dirt cheap. Just buy a used one. You can recirc, but don't have to. SR's are touchy and would prefer to be recirced.. However, you can get away without recirc. If you ever go to a full standalone, the tuner can compensate for the air that is vented off.. So the MAFS will NOT be confused.

the kade maf will NOT work the kae single cam maf WILL work but will need to be wired up also the ignitor chip needs to be from a sr20det, a z32 or a q45 and will also need to be wired up
