335's On a S14

Searched a little bit and didn't come up with anything.

I'm looking at running 335/30/18 (13" wide rim) on the rear of my 240sx with 50mm over fenders...has anyone else done this?

Reason being, my S14 has a rb26dett sitting in it that will soon be making 500whp+ (possibly as much as 700 depending on how much money I want to spend) and I'll need some traction in order to play with Vipers.

i dont think you need that wide of a wheel, id say 12'' max just go with a lower offset to fill the fender...and you definately dont need 700 hp to beat vipers, unless ur doing it just for the mere enjoyment of having that much power..

It's one hell of a wide rim though...I did a little reading about tire specs and I only need the 12" rim to run a 335 so that should be plenty.

Hopefully I'll get a little traction with a 335 drag radial

I'm still a couple months out before I'm ready to put the wheels on and put the 50mm over fenders on.

But yeah, I'll definitely post up some pictures when I start the major modifications to the body.

Edit: Here's the link to that car if anyone wants more info on it: http://www.jtuned.com/content/templa...id=12&zoneid=2

Oh, and those wheels are 13's...maybe thats why the look a little big for the tire.

S chassis + RB+ 500hp = no traction no matter what you do or how wide your tired is.

I realize that getting traction is a losing battle with my setup...so do any of you 240sx gurus have some suggestions for me?

I’ve already removed the interior, airbags, speakers, ect. from the front of the car (probably close to 40lbs) and installed a light weight battery (15lbs). So that should help the weight distribution a little. A carbon fiber hood and light weight seats will also eventually be installed, not that it’ll help all that much.

The only other thing I can think of is to run a soft suspension in the rear to try to absorb some of the torque, assuming that I won’t have any rubbing problems with the tires/fenders.

Moving the engine back about 15 inches would be awesome...but way too expensive.

I have rolled fenders and I can fit a 315/30/17 with no problem so with 50mm over fenders you can fit a 335 no problem.

What offset are you running? Also are you running coil overs? I noticed on a buddy of mine's 240sx with coil overs that the actual spring/shock diameter is smaller allowing for more room inside the fender.
