Benefits to 5 lug conversion for s13

Hi I am new here, but have posted on the n00b section already

I am planning to upgrade my brakes on my s13 to z32 Al brakes. I notice that the rotors can be redrilled to 4 lugs.

So other than the benefits of using the z32 AL uprights to shave off some weight, and more options for wheels. Are there other benefits.

Why is this conversion so popular?

Cheers,

Gus

there are not many light, wide and good lookin wheels that come in 4x114.3. thats the major difference and ther are little ones such as better suspension (like you said) but nothing really important

I would count it as a dead wash. Yes you are saving weight if you use the AL uprights but have you seen the size of the rotors. They are damn heavy and most likely when weighed side by side make the swaps a dead even.

You can get better break fade resistance with the z32 brake setup.

You get bragging rights when all of your s13 buddies are hanging out and you have 5 lugs and deep dish.

You can still do very well with slotted rotors (powerstop is one company that comes to mind) and pads using the stock calipers.

If you are looking for deep dish the rims are out there in four lug. Trust me. I have had many sets.

Ebay
Wheelchoice
Word of mouth

You can get rims with big lips and awesome patterns.

If you want to go 5 lug do it before you have 6 sets of 4 lug rims. Trust me on that one too.

Dude read that description they are 4x114.3

So they are for your four lug as it is now.

What kind of power do you need for those wheels? I am curious.....

I know plenty of guys with SRs and power adders that are running 4 lug.

You can get wide *** wheels for four lug. You just have to search harder and want them more.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah, I decided to go for the 5 lug conversion and save some money by using stock Al s14 rims for now. and just get my s13 rotors redrilled.

Thanks again,

Cheers

Yeah. I am getting my front hubs from these guys.

http://www.raretrick.com/index1.asp

the only thing is it takes them 6 to 8 weeks to get them to u since they have to order them from Japan.

They also have the rear hubs, but u can just order new 95 S14 rear hubs from dealer at $120 a piece.

Saw this here: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/te...cc_projsilvia/

Cheers
