Brake Problem

Brake Problem

Well today i was driving down the street and my brakes just gave out on me. At first the pedal got kinda soft, but then it just hit the floor the next time I hit them.

I checked the level and there's the correct amount of fluid thats suppose to be there. I had my friend pump the brakes to see if fluid would leak out, and nothing is coming from any of the wheels.

A friend said that the brake booster might be shot. I came here hoping for some help.

it could be the brake master cylinder or the brake booster

I've posted up on a few places and people were saying the master cylinder. I bought a new one and have yet to install it. I'll find out tomorrow though.

It turned out to be my master cylinder. I bought one and now I'm back on the road. I'm to happy.

Do you know exactly what happened? Did something rupture or was it leaking? Just would like to know for future reference.

Nope the brakes kinda got soft the first time I pressed them down, but still stopped the car. Then the next time I went to stop the pedal just hit the floor as if there wasn't any fluid in the lines.

I've come very close to hitting someone. Lucky the ebrake slowed the car down enough. Does anyone know how to adjust the ebrake to be alot tighter?

there is a adjustment screw near the base of the level, facing the front of the car IIRC.

pull the ebrake up enough that you can see the little socket sized hole on the underside of your boot. stick a 10mm (i think or else 12mm) socket down there with an extension and give it a few good turns, drive around afterward and make sure its not so tight that your pads are always toughing and arent smoking..
