Talking offset question, lowering car

plz excuse my n00by-ness but.. why is it so bad to have wheels with a high offset? i mean other then looks and not being able to clear brake upgrades... i'm currently on rims with a +45 offset and i was thinkin about lowering my car with kyb abx and sportlines.. would i have to get spacers? any recommendations or advice on a suspension set up would also be appreciated

thanks

I found that a while back when i was getting the Weld Pro-Stars and realized I would have to have a 25mm spacer to fit them over my GT-R Rear Brakes. live it.....learn it.....love it.........
