Rack, Pinion & Alignment repair
Hi, I just got my car back from the Nissan dealership. They found a leak on my Rack and Pinion. They also want my car to have an alignment. They're charging me $1900 to fix this problem. *i rather buy another 240 with that kind of money haha* well... yeah... um... do you guys know how i can do this myself? is it easy to install? if i were to fix this.. what parts would i need and what tools? thanks in advance.
regards,
steph
p.s. my car is a 1990 240sx fastback

leaky Rack & Pinion means you need a new rack. Removing the rack is labor, and an alignment is necessary afterward because of the way the rack mounts to the crossmember (it can slide left/right if not tightened down). Plus you have to drain/refill the p/s fluid, etc. If you can do it, a remanufactured rack is about $150ish IIRC
