S14 Brake Upgrade/Questions

I just baught a 95 240 that I fell in love with, Came from a SRT-4... BOOO!!! 240FTW!!! heeh

Anyways, I Already have 5 lugs on it but I want bigger brakes, My brother is nudging me to go with the 300zx brakes, but I want bigger...

I was wondering will Nissan Sentra SE-R Brembo's bolt on to my car?

What about the Skyline R33 Brakes? Will those Fit? EX: The front calipers etc etc how well do they fit?

What is the best bang for the buck?

Well 300zx brakes Will work fine for me, but I'm just curious on how that would work?

I'm only interested in the 30mm Aluminum Z32 brakes, Front and rears. Is there a write up on how that would work? Search didn't come up with anything.

Well, since you already have a 5-lug car your life will be easier than most when doing this swap.

The brake hardware all bolts on, there are no issues there. The dust shields will need to be trimmed or removed on the front. The calipers and rotors will all bolt on, and there are plenty of conversion SS brake lines to choose from, since the Z32 calipers have a different connection method than the stock calipers.

The conversion gets tricky when you start talking about the ebrake or the master cylinder.

EBrake:

If you want to retain a parking brake, you will need to get the entire parking brake assembly off of a Z32 300ZX or a G50 Q45 (they're the same). Both of these cars came with Drum type parking brakes, and your 240 has the parking brake built into the caliper. To install this parking brake you will need to strip the rear knuckle down completely, remove the axle, hub, and dust shield. Install the new ebrake assembly onto your stock knuckle, reinstall your hub, axle, etc. You then need to source some Z32 2+2 ebrake cables and get creative making them work. There are plenty of writeups available online regarding this upgrade...

Master Cylinder:

If you have ABS, install a larger Z32 300ZX master cylinder in your car and call it a day. If you don't, you'll have to modify the 300ZX master cylinder to allow 3 connections vice 2. Again, there are a pluthera of writeups available on this subject.

The front brakes are a 2/10 on the difficulty scale.

The rear brakes are a 2/10 also if you don't do the ebrake... I'd say a 6 or 7/10 if you do.

The Master cylinder is a 1/10 or 4/10 depending if you have ABS or not.

(scale adjusted for a ameture mechanic, a lubetech/C-tech at a dealership)

This is all IMHO, I've completely built cars from the unibody up, so none of this seems that difficult to me, but for a novice mechanic, it can be a daunting task.

Performance:

Compared to the stock brakes, this is a terrific upgrade. That is of course if your car has enough rubber to handle the added stopping power. With stock size tires, I wouldn't recommend it.
