Suspension necessary?

Suspension necessary?
I was just wondering that if all you really plan to do is drag/ quarter-mile stuff, do you really have to get a good suspension and such? and if you do, what is necessary and what is recommended?

Dont get me wrong, 240s a great car. But for a Drag car i dont know. For sure u will need a Good LSD. Get better traction on the accleration. Im not a big Drag fan..the 240s are made to Handle, not go in a straight line Just my 2 cents

You will definently need suspension.
Just because it looks straight doesn't mean that the car will drive down it straight.
You can look to get lighter rear arms that are also stronger.
Pretty much do all the same as a most guys in the rear with adjustable arms. Your settings will just be different.
Your front arms can also be changed but you will not look to get arms to increase your steering radius as you will not need it. You will need stronger, stiffer and more responsive.
Look to change your rear.
Open diffs bleed off a great deal of HP.

if you watch the "HIGH OCTANE 2"
video you will see a group of silvias/180's
all at the drag strip.
they compare alll cars times with hp
the cars with less HP had faster times
so basically without alot of serious traction you will spin all the way down the tack...lol
just my 2 PSI

The rear suspension design of the 240 really works against it when trying to put down large amounts of power. It really is not the best starting point for a drag car unless you plan on tubbing out the rear and installing a ladder bar rear suspension.

straight-line? get a Fox-body Mustang or an LT1 or LS1 F-body. a 240SX can be made to be fast, but it's made for handling.
yes you could do a stripped CRX or EG hatch w/ swap or something, but then you'd be stuck with FWD

i own a drag civic hatch and it isnt cheap. it depends on how fast your trying to go. hondas are expensive to build up. but their right it would be faster. sr20 swap doeasnt feel slow though and traction is a problem for any high horsepower car. get an lsd and drag launch springs who knows what else.

i guess cheap is a relative term. it isnt cheap for me cause im building a full blown drag civic. 12 seconds is fast but im shooting for high 10s. so far ive got 10 grand or more in it and still need another 10 in it to get where im trying to go. my 240 isnt nearly as expensive but then again im building it to autox and still be daily driven.
