suspension rattle...
I just had pro-kit springs and GR2 shocks/struts installed. I notice a light sort of hollow rattling sound coming from the front on both sides usually when I hit smaller bumps or cracks in the road and for some reason it seems to happen more at lower speeds like when I am rolling to a stop.
It doesn't do it all the time... just whenever it feels like it and sometimes I can drive over large bumps and it is just fine. I took it to the shop that installed it and it didn't make any noise when they drove it (go figure
) and they checked it out and said everything looked fine...
Anybody had a similar experience or know what I can do to get rid of the noise?

I don't have pics but did they install these rubber looking spring silencers back onto the car? I had some on mine when i did my suspension i believe there OEM but i could be wrong that will help you out greatly cuz your prolines are very different from your stockers and you might be tapping your mounts. I listened to this for a year until i got my coilovers and pillowball mounts so ....I hope this helped a little. PLus have you had it aligned? the geometry of your rideheight plus load might be affecting how your shock/strut piston travels as well. Causing an odd travel angle in your set-up ....?
Thanks for the input... Zenki, I think you may be on the right track with the rubber spring silencers. I noticed on eibach's website that they recommend new OE 'isolator pads' i you have more than 50,000 miles on the car. I did not see this before the install and the original ones were put back on the car... Are what they call isolator pads the same thing as you are talking about? That is what it sounds like it could be to me that the spring is just bumping into the mount. I'm sure my original ones are worn down pretty thin considering that I have 150,000 mi.
The thing that sucks is that I will have to pay for labor to have the springs removed to even see is the rubber is worn thin. But do you think this might be a definite possibility that is worth paying for to have checked out? I just don't want to get stuck having to pay for the labor if it won't fix the problem, ya know? I did have it aligned and it seemed to make the noise go away some of the time but not completely... but I think there was a difference. I realize that my car has to get used to the new parts and that my ride will be stiffer, but the noise it is making is definitely not a normal one.

DOOD its easy as heck to take your suspension on and off!...DO not pay some dude to do that man. Front = unbolt the three bolts under the hood at the top of the strut tower then (with the wheel off and jacked up) unbolt the the two 14mm blots that hold the strut Rear= even easier two 10mm nuts next to the speakers in the back then(with the wheel off and jacked up) a 14mm bolt for the shock and BAM!! they come right out reverse this to put them back in. When your done crack a beer smack your girls bottom and praise yourself for a manly job done.
dude do it the right way, go on ebay and buy sum spring compressors for 20 shipped or go to auto zone and rent them, u basically pay for them then return them. I used tie downs for like boats and dirt bikes and vice grips lol. I was inpatient I didnt want to wate 5 more days for my spring compressors.
And dont trip about the rattle, ur changing the whole suspension geometry by lowering the car. Alignment might help though.

dude just take some old hanger wires and while the springa are still mounted wire them down to themselves...just make sure they are pointed away from you when you loosen them just in case....sounds ghetto BUT i like my money!
I had this same rattling, it turned out to be the bearings in the upper suspension mount(the rubber thing with 3 bolts in it on top of the strut) were sloppy, they were fine on stock springs but as soon as I stiffened it up they started rattling. Replaced them with some from a gutted front clip and the noise went away.
Don't be stupid and end up DEAD. Go rent a spring compressor if you are going to disassemble the spring from the shock. I have a s13 that I put the eibach springs in several years ago but had a metallic clack sound when I drove over small cracks in the pavement. PDM-Racing offers coil silencers to solve this problem. They are basically a coil of plastic in the shape of a telephone cord you wrap around the spring to cushion the coils from slapping each other as they rebound. Simple install, jack up car, remove wheels, wrap silencer around coil, done.
