sounds like the damper is bad, but good news...you can send them back to tein and get them rebuilt for $80 a piece. It isn't that bad, cause I bought a set of HR's for $250, and the front 2 needed to be rebuilt, so I spent $410 for a set of HR's with adjustable pillowball uppermounts.

*****, thats my luck. ill get into contact with my local distributer.

is that 80$ for all four, or a piece? at least i know they will be good coilovers if i get them rebuilt. i guess this is why you dont buy used.

Most performance shocks aren't gas charged and don't recoil at all or if they do very slowly. If they are dry around the seals and don't bounce they are fine. If you compress them and theres no resistance like there is no oil in them, there probably isn't and they will need new seals. I sell used susp from our 1/2 cuts all the time. Even rebuilt it's a better deal:

Tein HR's need Rebuild $250
Rebuild is about as above $80ea or so. $320-$350

SO about $600 for a $1200+ set of suspension.........

yeah well its not that great of a deal when you pay 500$ for the set of coilovers that need to be rebuilt. the ****er i bought them from wont refund me any money, hes a piece of ****.

so... 500 + a couple hundred for rebuild = could have bought brand new instead of used rebuilt to be like new.

Then why didnt you, thought you were getting a good deal? Dont worry about it, just get them rebuilt. Who knows you might not even need them rebuilt like rk said. I say call up Tein and ask them if they can just look at the coilovers and see if they need to be rebuilt or not. If so then get the rebuilt, if not get em back and put em on. I know your upset at the moment because they didnt turn out to be what you wanted/thought they would be. But listen its ok everyone goes through this ****, i went through it with my s13 when i had to repair the frame. I had body specialists telling me it was unrepairable, then I got it fixed and I turned around sold it, and bought my dream car, my s14. So just let the dust settle, give Tein a call and explain your situation to them, Im sure that theyll understand. Just remember shi t happens to the best of us.

You'd never get new Tein HR's for $500 + a couple hundred bucks.

Spend the $80x4 and rebuild it all. Then you'll have a fresh, as-if-new Tein setup and you can thank me by sending me your stickers.

yeah, im still deciding if i want to rebuild them all, or rears or just the one.

i may send them all in and have them inspect them and rebuild if needed.

the only problem i have is that i have a bunch of stuff going on with my car all at once. so im dumping a bunch of money into it all at one time and its hard to do that lol.

dude you're not paying attention:

you're forgetting the fact that they are ALL used. Chances are they ALL have the same mileage on them. If one of them ended up blowing, the rest of them possibly are close to that point too, so why rebuild just one? It makes sense to rebuild them ALL since you're sending one in to Tein anyways (you can't use 3 at a time). If you only rebuild one, then use them, then another one blows or pops seals, then what? Then you have to send that other one to Tein, wait for it to come back so you can use the car again.

Don't be so cheap about it. This type of thing (along with other things) comes with owning coilovers. If you can't swallow the idea of spending $320 for rebuilds - regardless of what you paid for the coilovers in the first place - then just sell them and buy simple springs and shocks or something.

yeah i understand what yoiu guys are saying. i will probobly enbd up having them all rebuilt for reliability and jsut to have them in like new condition.

my comment above was just because it kind of gets annoying to have comments like "if you cant do xxx, then just sell your car"

i have had responses like that previously when asking about getting bushings, and someone said if i cant get aftermarket arms then i should sell the car or somethign dumb.

thanks for the help.
