What is the Function of Fender Braces?

I got a newsletter from morejapan and they featured the nagisa fender

braces that caught my interest. I read through it but couldn't quite grasp

the concept of the function of the fender braces. I'm guessing it gives the

car more steering response?

in helps to brace the front of the chassis. more bracing equals less flex which does yield better response.
