What wheel offset?

What wheel offset?
I just bought my s13 240 and I'm not sure at what offset I should be looking at for about a 17x7 or 17x7.5. I know theres a difference between a RWD and a FWD wheel, I have been told to look from 40-45 offset. I just want to make sure the car drives correctly.

apprantely you probably came from a FWD car and moving to RWD correct?
a few things that made me conclude that would be the choice of width along with somebody telling u to look for 40-45.
offset does not ensure that a car drives correctly. offset ensure that a car will handle better than the one next to it along with width.
the choice of offset and width is all personal perference. i myself would never go thinner than 9" and wider than 10.5". my offsets would never be higher than 20 and never more below than -25.
so depending what you want its up to you. you will need to research futher and see which choice of offsets and width fit for you.
everybody will say 7" wide is too thin. but others say 0offset is never needed. depending on your "hardcore-ness" its up to you.
so go off do more research and come back when you actually know what you really want when it comes with wheels.

Okay here is the deal this is my secondary car while I'm working on my bimmer till it is fully built. Therefore as of now most of the money is going towards my bimmer and college. The only reason I'm forking out money for wheels is because my tires are completely bald and I don't find it practical to get toyo proxes 4's for 350 bucks and put them on my hub caps. Therefore I need to find a cheaper alternative such as buying a wheel and tire setup off the forums. Everywhere I have looked all I have found are FWD wheels. I found some Enkei RSV brand new with Azenzis ST115's. The wheels are 17x7 with a 42 offset, I was thinking perhaps I can get 5 or 10 mm spacers. Just need some advice on how that would work out. Once I have my Bimmer built I will start working on my 240sx for now it will be left stock as my daily driver.

Well according to the sticky on this forum about wheel offsets the recomended for a 17x7 on a s13 is
17 7 +35 Recommended by Taka Kaira/InitialSteve/DannyG
17 7 +38 PS13boy
Therefore I would only need about 5 to 10 mm spacers. I wonder where out of your *** you pulled out 50 mm. If I'm not understanding something correctly please explain it to me. However I heard of spacers causing danger of cracking the wheel hub, is this true?

you read the sticky at the top.
did you care to read the title of the thread? or how about the post?
ill juss repeat myself
those recommended offsets by the company are to avoid any problems with rubbing and other ****s. that way the company would be liable if you do get the offset and have trouble. so in order to avoid trouble in all, they put those offset up to make sure nothing happens.
so if you post something on a company website, and you go out and do it, and your car explodes, is the company not somewhat liable for giving you that information?
if we all listened to recommended offsets by a company. all of our cars would look like flying ships
