wheel off set - - searched and still dont understand

ok. yes i have searched and i saw a bunch of people getting flamed blah blah blah...

i have 17 x 7 on my car(98 240) the wheel has a off set of 40 already.

i installed my RUCA yestersday and i had my alinement done yesterday. the rear wheels are still cambered in and its bothering me a lot. heres a few pics of what it looks like

do i need to get spacers or can i just adjust the RUCA that i have?

Thanks,
Jay

Adjusting camber is not going to do much when the offset is that high. Use an offset calculator and you'll find that a 7" wide wheel with +40 offset only extends the outside edge of the wheel 6mm (about 1/4") compared to the factory wheels.

You'd need a 20mm spacer to get it close to "flush", however, everyone has their own opinion of what "flush" is.

Use the above offset calculator in conjunction with the examples in this thread to find the best setup for you:

17x7? Get new wheels, WAY too thin. By the way 7 inch wheel IMO should have at least +10 or lower. 0 offset would be better...

adjusting camber wont make ur wheels flush, giving a sunken wheel more camber will make it look worse

from the looks of the pics, they don't look cambered in, but just sunken in because of the high offset. Get wider wheels and much much lower offset

1) what size tires? You can get 9 inch wheel and stretch 215 on it

2) I woudnt use factory studs with any more than 8mm spacer...

Cant go over 5mm spacer on stock lugs to dangerous.

Sell the wheels. Spacers will end up costing about 250+.

You have over 700 post. Think you would of learned something by now.

Jesus, some of you guys sure love to flame at any given opportunity. Give the guy a break...not everyone is as hardcore as others and not everyone has money to throw around for the perfect parts. He's obviously making an attempt to learn, and making him out to be an idiot is just gonna make him more reluctant to ask for help in the future. We were all newbies at some point.

2fast4y0u, it's general agreement that spacers should be a last resort, especially if you are going over 10mm. H&R makes 20mm spacers that come with longer studs, or you can get the bolt-on style spacer that has integrated studs. Fore more info, I recommend you search for discussions on "spacers" in this forum and http://forums.********.com/.

honestly you should just leave it the way it is. you would need atleast a 40mm spacer to make it anywhere near flush and, personally i would not trust that at all. your just gunna have to live whith the wheels, if you have some decent tires enjoy the way they grip
