Wheel Spacers

I have 17" wheels with a 48+ offset, and im lookng to do a 300zx brake upgrade. Im' pretty sure 30mm calipers will not fit under the wheel, so I'm going to need wheel spacers. i was wondering if anyone would know which size wheel spacer would work best, and if theres any companies you would recomend. Thanks.

Sell your FWD wheels and get something with a way lower offset. The spacer your going to need is going to be tooo big, you'll have to get 6 inch wheel studs and then your wheel will be so far off the hub, it'll just snap. No fun huh ...:nono:

instead of berating you, i'll assit you with this recurring question.

i did the 300ZX front brake upgrades with iron 30mm calipers.

my wheels are 40mm offset. instead of using a 1/2" damn spacer, i used a dremel to shear off the "Nissan" lettering. even now, my wheel clearance between the wheel spokes and high point of the caliper is too close for comfort.(1-2mm)

since i painted my calipers, i just look for any missing paint to determine if the wheels are rubbing. it has looked good for 2 months now, i think the only way it will rub is if i do some hard high speed cornering that could possibly cause wheel flex?? with that said, do yourself a favor and get lower offset wheels.

i think the reason people get the fwd wheels are that they are so cheap due to the honda craze.

i paid $660 shipped. (wheels and tires)

here's my setup:

Oh my friend had those on his VW Golf.

badman70_1 your set up is weak.

Let them search then after we can answer. You make it to easy spoon feeding them all the time.

Your setup is strong. My setup is weak.

Exactly which part of my setup is weak? I think my setup is both practical and functional. I don't track the vehicle like you do. I didn't see a need for fully adjustable suspension components.

As for the searching......what is your preferred wait period before responses are made to a post? Is it necessary for a user to type in his thread subject line "I need help on xxxxx - I searched"

Let me know your preferences and I will see if the forum members, myself included, can accommodate you.

But you're duly noted on the spoon feeding issue.

Haha yea I know I really messed up with the offset on the rims. I bought these wheels awhile ago, not knowing wat I was doing. I plan on getting new wheels down the line but at the moment its not an option. So my question still is what is it going to take to make these work with 30mm calipers. I was told that a 10mm or 15mm wheel spacer would work... What do you think?

JDMxDrift 03-28-2005 07:59 PM

Great... back to the subject. If it were me, i wouldn't try running that big of a spacer. It adds a lot of stress onto your hubs and bearing having your wheels so far from the hub itself. Not to mention rotational mass. Also, your spoke design plays a role it clearance of brake calipers.

Levi SPL S14 03-28-2005 11:13 PM

Yup and the wheel specs are still gay.
