BOV and Re-circ

So I have been reading about BOV's and re-circulation valves. I know what they both do, and I'm wondering how necessary a re-circulation valve is. I have read all over that it is bad to dump all that metered air, but if its so bad, why do you barely hear about it? I don't think i have ever heard of a 240sx with a re-circ valve. Let me know, please, cause I sure woulnd't want to loose that SWOOSH of the BOV to scare all those pedestrians when i drive by. By the way, this is my first post so be nice.

Obviously it depends on what you want, I mean for all PRACTICAL purposes, you don't need the recirculation, as you only run rich for that TINY period of time when you let off the throttle very suddenly and the BOV opens.

Obviously, like you said, if you want the "woosh" sound, then keep the BOV...they both serve the same purpose, to prevent surge

Yeah thats what i thought, since I havent really even heard of a 240 with a re-circ valve instead of a BOV. While we are talking about it, anybodu have any suggestions on which ones sound and perform the best? I personally think the Greddy Type-RS looks sick.

I have an RS, but have heard from a few people that they "suck"

This is weird, because Greddy usually makes excellent stuff at a decent price.

I have been having problems with mine too, unfortunately.....

It seems that the cold weather causes the rubber diaphragm in the top of the BOV to kind of get "crumpled" and not stay as soft, so sometimes, when the BOV goes to close, the rubber catches, and it doesn't close all the way

HUUUUUGE pain in the nuts, because with an even slightly open BOV, you build boost like a granny in a wheelchair

Yeah I have seen that HKS valve. To me it seems that HKS is really expenxive compared to other brands, are they overpriced, or are they just better than everyone else??

HKS is not overpriced, it's just exceptionally good stuff........I mean you just need to consider how much you will actually use any given part. You don't need to buy a $1000 dollar blitz intercooler if you are going to be running stock boost on an SR...just use common sense

Greddy does NOT make crappy stuff, from my experience....I think it's just a rare case with this BOV....
