I am not getting an IC anytime soon, just curious. I know some of you have made your own piping. How hard is this to do and what is the prosess. Thanx..

 

you can purchase either complete IC piping kits, or piece together mandrel bends (which will most likely come out cheaper) and weld together.

 

I belive most radiator shops will do it for u...u just gatta give them a diagram.

 

Im talken cutting and bending yourself, when you guys say that do u mean just peice it together at a radiator shop?

 

if ya got all the proper tools (IE, pipe bender, pipe cutter and ETC) then u can do it urself..it shoul dbe that hard just gatta know how long and where to bend it and such. Or i belive a Radiator shop can do it for ya.

 

ive never heard of people bending them themselves....

Just buy the bends you need and cut and weld. The store will sell 45's 90's straights etc...Dont buy aluminum unless you think you can weld it.

 

no one bends these themselves, that large of diameter needs mandrel bending...many shops dont have one even (I think they are like $100k)....there are no mandrel benders here in West Palm Beach which is a large city.

The best bet is to 'plan' what you are going to need and get the bends and piping sent...some places have bends + piping as one unit so that can help limit welds and sometimes you can get by without any....

 

jc whitney 180 bends are like 30 bux.

yes and no....

If the muffler shop can do mandrel bending and can handle the pipe thickness you want and has the piping material you want.

There isn't a mandrel bender in my city, plus no one stocks stainless either.
