how do you change compression

hello
how do you change compression?
sorry im a noob
does anyone know what the stock compression on a KA24DE(1995) is?
Tryign to change it to like 8.5:1
Do you have to buy pistons?

Well, you can lower it a little bit by getting a thicker headgasket. But you will have to get a low compression piston set

Or you can raise it by milling the head. That's what I want to do. go from 8.5 to 9.0 on my SR!

wouldn't that be harmful to the turbo'd engine srdave, i mean ur raising the compression on a turbocharged motor. wouldn't that be bad?

It wouldn't be THAT bad. I'm guessing you want more low-end power (off-boost), which would be produced by that slightly higher compression ratio. Right, Dave? Or, you could just get a turbo that spools faster

9.0 isnt to high i would prefer a 8.7 ish personally, especily with that aluminum block. also you better hope you have acess to high octane gas or detonation will be a issue for you

I want 9:1 compression cause I'm building my car for road racing. They use 9:1 on the JGTC 300 silvia s15. Basically, you can run less boost and get more hp. I always run 93 octane anyways.
