jwt: ECU
jwt: ECU
hey guys i'm turboing my ka and just ordered a 96 manual trans ecu from autogator and i'm dyin for it to come in the mail so i can have jim wolf re-burn it. i was just wonderin how much power you get on a stock ka with a jwt ecu?
i'm going to put the chip on the stock ka until i get my turbo stuff together and going. This chip isn't cheap and i was really wondering how much of a hp gain it is. And another thing...do you think not having boost retard is a big deal?
so you're gonna run a turbo tune ecu... with out the turbo/injectors etc until you get it? Not a good idea, the ecu will be tuned for 370cc/550cc/740cc injectors, whatever you decide, your car with still be running the stock injectors and no boost, which would cause it to run like ****, and possibly burn up the motor.
My advice, dont get the ecu tuned until you have the motor setup to go with it, it will save you lots and lots of trouble.
What do you mean boost retard? You need to have some form of boost control (usually the wastegate or a boost controller)

...but what would the hazard be running no boost and stock injectors? would the engine ping because the injectors aren't big enough? I forgot what it's called but it retards the timing as the engine goes into boost...i was just wondering if my engine would last without it...thanks for the advice : )

Depending on how the ecu is tuned, it would add and subtract fuel. So if you have stock injectors, and the ecu is pulling fuel... turns lean quick.
I know im not all correct here, i can get you the full pro explaination lol. But take my word to wait it out until you get all the other turbo stuff ready to go
...tell me about it...i think i'll wait the extra few weeks to but the injectors and the maf sensor for the ka's sake, just couldn't wait to something to that doggy motor...lol
-Thanks a lot!
