Question KA24E Turbo ?

Ok i just bought a 1989 240sx hb with only 58,000 miles on it. I was going to pull the engine and either do a sr20, ca18, or put a KA24DE engine in it but from what i've read this engine will due for what i want. So here's the question I have a Evo 8 turbo and a good size FMIC i think the evo's run around 10-12 psi on the stock wastegate. So could i run this on stock internals as long as i get bigger injectors and greddy emanage w/ E-01? or will i need to get different pistons and rods? i've seen a stock internal 240 run 9 psi all day long no prob but how much can the internals take? Any usfull info will help but please don't come on here and slam the sohc engine and try to get me to do a swap. thanks for the help!

As long as you get it properly tuned, I think 10psi should be fine. KA's can handle a lot, I've seen turbo ka-e with more than 275,000mi running 10psi of boost. It really varies engine to engine, so do a leakdown test to make sure everything's alright. Just don't it half-assed, or you'll blow your engine.

the PSI isn't really the determining factor for injector size... I believe I read elsewhere on the forum that the Nissan 320cc's would do anywhere up to 300whp, so that should do for you. Personally though, I believe in having parts that peak alot higher than what you are running them at - I would go 550cc injectors and a good 500 hp rated intercooler...

right around 250-275hp the kae's internal start to show their stockness. That's when the pistons and rod bearing would need to be replaced. A good idea is to balance the rods at that point also. Anything higher than 300hp new valves, valve springs, and a trip to the machine shop is a good idea to get the block reworked (if it's daily driven). An upgraded fuel system is a given along with a bov, intercooler, and high flow exhaust SYSTEM (not just muffler). A Maf from a cobra and a ecu upgrade would be pretty basic also. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get a hold of a turbo manifold that was built for a internal waistegate but I do have a turbo manifold for the kae with an external waistegate I'm selling. If you wanted to do a lil fabrication you could just weld the flange for the ex. waistegate and run the evo turbo. In my opinion though, used turbos are trash and need to be thrown away. A new turbo would be a good idea. Maybe a t3/t4 with an external waistegate so it will fit most kae manifolds. The manifold I'm selling is tig welded and comes with a 3" downpipe.

Yeah, it's for the ka24e. I have a t3/t4 manifold and downpipe for 650. I have another manifold up for sale by itself that I'm selling for 200. Don't have pics right now cuz by friend borrowed my digi camera but will email them asap. Message me your email address or email me at hollowkostik@aol.com.

It's not that the $200 manifold is inclined but it's not as good as the $650 one. They are both new and never used but have been fitted but not torqued down. I'll take pics tommorow and try to post them on the "for sale" section.

Hey. Here's some pics of the manifolds. The first few will be the 600$ one and the last will be the less expensive one. If it is a daily driver the cheaper one would be the way to go. Also, if you do go with the cheaper one you may want to bring it to a shop that fabricates and have them rework it for about $100 and you would basically have the same manifold as the other. The only difference is the other one has massive downpipe (3"). I'll let you decide. If they don't sell they will be up on ebay so don't think you missed out until they are actually sold.

Sorry about the lighting but I had to use my webcam photos and there is not much light, even with a flashlight pointed on it. The above pics are for the $650 manifold and the below pic is for the $200 manifold. Now again, this manifold does need a little work for hardcore applications but for a basic budget turbo manifold it will work just fine with low boost. Here you go. If you don't think that my prices aren't fare just email me with a bid and after a week I'll see who has the higher bid, but if someone thinks 650 and 200 are fair they will go strait to them. Kinda like "Buy it now" but I'm not ebay. My email address is Hollowkostik@aol.com.
