Unhappy S14 SR20DET Problems..

Ok..
I just bought a 95 240 with s14 sr20det. At first, it would idle @ 700, however it would go up and down between 900 and 300. I installed a blitz blow-off valve.

Ever since i did that, the car now idles at a constant 1000-1100.
I get backfires everytime i throw it into neutral or downshift.
All the vaccum hoses look ok. I cleaned out my throttle body recently. Changed oil with mobil1 10w30. I dont know what else to do. Everyone says the car is supposed to idle at 700. I can smell exhaust fumes every so often so im guessing im running rich. Can anyone throw in some helpful suggestions? Im new to the 240 scene. Thanks.

Check your MAFS. Seems like this problem is arising a lot lately. Prob your MAFS is reading the right amoutn of air coming in and isn't giving teh right amount of fuel.

Probably clean it. I really don't know how to deal with the MAFS but someone will come around to help you. Check to see if it's dirty though. Crimsontide said he cleaned his with compressed air. Also see ifit's in all the way. I dunno what else to say.
