Well,
These easiest way to do it..

1. Stand alone Engine management -there may be other ways, but this is the easiest (link, Motec, SDS, Electromotive, DIS, etc,..)
2. For RB26DETT use an RB25DET transmission (from a R33 or R34 GT25t).... Bolts right up and strong enough.
3. Custom Driveshaft.
4. Custom Motor mounts.

Same as your avg. "Non-Standard" motor swap.
I have see it done on an S13 in Okinawa by Akamine Motorsports...
Major Traction problems...couldn't get the power to the ground.

Hope this helps.

RB26 swap is gonna run you around $25,000. Not worth it in my opinion because it totally destroys the handling of the car. Only reason you would do this swap is for a drag car.

If you have the 15000-25000 to do the swap just buy a Skyline GTR or GTS from

http://www.skylinegtr.com/

I Think if you ask them they can get you a R32 GTR for $25-30k That would be sweet.

If you really want to believe its $25K for an engine swap go ahead.

A FULL RB25DET engine and Trans. = $3900.00 (you only need the tranny and possibly driveshaft though)
A FULL RB26DETT engine and Trans. = $4700.00
Engine management (SDS) for example = $1263.00
Shortened driveshaft (labor) = $200.00
All this is a little over 10K and these prices I found in 2 minutes on the net... Should be cheaper just getting the tranny and driveshaft from the rb25det.. You wont need the stock harness or ECU...So engine mounts and install labor is going to cost over 15K?... not likely, and even more so DIY.
There will be little things here and there, but not things you're not planning on getting already. Custom IC piping...guages, fuel pump...

anyway, If you do it right, take your time and research there's no way you'll be putting that much out. Check out this RB swap in a Cefiro. My boy Adam and Matt hooked this beast up.

this is a link to some prices for RB's..not sure if its a good dealer, but its just a reference for prices:

enjoy. A SICK project.. is a SICK project.

Of course its not going to cost exactly $25k, but its also NEVER going to cost $10k even if you do all the labor yourself. Maybe in japan, but not here. Im just saying I wouldnt even THINK about doing the swap unless i had an extra $25k around. Its called being prepared.

Yes you will have traction problems. You will have suspension problems too. All the weight of the rb26dett engine on the suspension for the ka24de. It is going to move the weight of the car on the front and not the rear so your tires will spin becuase of no weight on the rear wheels. I know of people with rb20det engines and they say that dry pavment driving feels like wet grass driving. I will be very fast in a strait line but suck at everything else. HKS runs a 180sx with a rb26dett i think it is in the 7's at about 190 mph, that is very fast for 2.6L.

Good luck if you go for it.

You can put the rb25 in there but why would you want to? They make about the same power as an sr20 but they have virtually no aftermarket support whereas the sr20 is huge in the aftermarket. Youll have a ton of trouble sourcing parts for the rb25. Not to mention the extra costs involved in installing it. But i guess thats the price for being unique

yeh, but that car will be the truth regaurdless of who thinks what. the suspension "problems" can be overcome with higher spring rates and specially valved shocks. just do you and document things so i can see

I would not doubt it costing 15k for the labor.

...Not to get too nit picky, but pleez think b4 u speak.

1. The original post was by a guy who wanted to do a majority of the swap himself.

2. What does an rb26 in a silvia for $21,000 in Japan have to do with anybody in the states?
---FYI -an S13 at Akamine in OKinawa with RB26DETT already transplanted goes for $15,000... doesn't really help in the U.S., but nice to know.

out- S....
