Question Turbo? please help

ok.....i can get a turbo for free....

and i am wondering what would happen if i used my "ingenering skillz" and basicly made a custom intake and put the turbo in the line of the intake.....and run this strait to the motor?

would i blow the motor up?

does anyone know what would happen?

i think it would work in a way (or in theory...)

let me know...

a. do you know how a turbo works
b. where else besides in the line of the intake would a turbo go
c. assuming you did plug the turbo in correctly (i.e. connected the turbine to the exhaust and had the compressor on the intake), and if your piping somehow survives over 4psi and the turbo boosts over that much, then yes, your engine will blow up when your stock fuel system maxes out and your engine runs lean/ detonates.

this si the set up

one end of the turbo connected to the intake man.,....and the other end of the turbo have a cold air tube connected to it sucking air to it....no exhaust,....no boost controller,....thats all...

intake>>turbo>>cold air tube>>filter.....

i say go for it..but i feel youll **** it up

a. yes i do, do you? (im not hookin up the turbo, the "normal way" so it really doesnt matter...)

b.really ? i thought id stick it in my ***......

c. i have 1/4 inch thick metal tubing....i think that will be strong enough to hold 4 psi....and i was saying not even ****ing with the exahust lines and hookin the turbo strait up.....why in the hell would the fuel system max out? there is no way to do that with only 4 pds of boost.......maybe if it was at like 8 or 12 or 2105 psi it would but not 4psi.....

oh yea there is ways of tunning your turbo to make it put out less boost as well so 4 psi is not set in stone.....

yall need to clarify what you're saying.... like, how do you expect to power your compressor without a turbine. i'm sure you know what i'm talking about since you answered that you DO know how a turbo works.

Also, yes, I do know how a turbo works. I dun been edumakated n stuff.

Ace - who was actually doing turbine port measurements today.

You can run a turbo without a FMIC, but not above about 5psi. Above that, the intake charge is too hot and the motor will overheat and detonate. If you really want to jerry rig the hell out of your motor, do it. If you care about not blowing up your ish, then save up for a front mount.

that's all nice but it wouldn't help if his turbo was just sitting there not doing anything other than restricting airflow.

i'm genuinely curious how he expects to power the compressor now

yeah i dont think itd work too well without the exhaust end. youd have to have some sort of weird ram air system to push enough air through and get the turbine to do much. i see where youre coming from, i just dont see it working.

Yeah, without the exhaust housing being hooked up, the turbo takes away a ton of power! there is now way you could spin the shaft with some sort of ram air thing. You have to have it hooked up to the manifold. End of story.
