Turbo SR20DET, how to make one

Aight my friends, i know this is a hard question but maybe i can just get some imput from some people who have built one of these beautiful babies. i want to build an engine that is capible of 350-400hp, and i was wondering if anyone has built one of these and how it went for them as far as money, time, and parts. also what type of turbo did u use? as far as specs in all. Also did you do any internal upgrades so that the engine wouldn't blow and stuff. I know its a vague question, but hopefully someone can help me out. O and one more thing, what size exhaust did you use? would 3.5" be too wide? or can i get away wit 3"?

thanks everyone

well, i rebuilt most of my motor. sr20det, cometic head gasket, arp head studs, new bearings, ross pistons and shotpeened and straightened the rods, arp rod bolts (enlarged). spec stage 3 clutch and lightened flywheel, bunch of other items. anyway you get the picture. 3" from turbo out no bottlenecks.

search...

high hp would be - big turbo, low compression pistons, cams and cam gears, rods and other internals, exhaust, timing... and lots of other stuff. 350ish would be fuel, turbo and tuning

If your just looking for 350-400 hp you really dont need to build up the motor. just use ample fuel and tuning and you'll be fine.

gotta question... how is it that the s-15 gets 250ps on 11.1 compression and not even aggressive cams (vvti right?).

for a daily driver the highest safe compression would give you the most low end tq so what compression would support 375 hp.

That is how it makes more power....it has higher compression and higher stock boost than an s13 or s14 sr. As for building an sr, don't bother, if all you are looking for is 350-400 (which will pin you to your seat in either car, not to mention, spank alot of cars on the road) just upgrade your fuel system, cams, and get a piggyback a/f controller or Rom Tune and you are set!!

I read around that the stock block sr20det is capable of handling 400+ whp with no problem as long as you have the tune up to par, matter of fact this guy make 557 whp on a stock block sr20det.
