What gauges for a turbo set up?

What are the best gauges to have for a turbo set up? I would guess boost and oil pressure but I am not sure, that is why I ask.

boost, egt(exhasut temp gauge) some people say they are so great buts its a opinoin, oil pressure isnt a bad idea.

i put in a air fuel ratio, boost, and oil pressure.
lots of people say that air fuel ratios are pointless but what ever, i bought one because i wanted one.

i agree boost pressure, egt, oil pressure and temp and a better water temp gauge would all be good to have

BOOST, just so you know how much you are boosting.

EGT, you boost that ***** at high temp and there goes your turbo. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

WATER, I dunno about you..but there's no way in hell I'm trusting the stock water temp gauge.

OIL PRESSURE/TEMP, I guess...

Ok so boost, EGT, water, oil pressure, oil temp. What about a wideband a/f gauge

a wideband o2 sensor for tuning, and or a safc... but the a/f gauges arent all that accurate. Buy the wideband sensor or afc instead

So the safc is used for both fuel tuning and o2 sensor?

the wideband o2 sensor hooks up to the safc and other tuning programs... like if you get tuned on the dyno. The safc "supre air fuel controler" is helpful in adjusting both, but not major tuning (reprogram chip)

Ok it is early in the morning and I am getting confused.

We have a wideband o2 sensor, safc, reprogrammed ecu, and a wideband controller, and a A/F gauge.

The A/F gauge isn't that great. Out of the other 4, which would I need?

boost, water temp and egt should come first... then buy the other stuff

I am just trying to learn what goes where and what connects to what.

What is the o2 sensor for and what does it connect to?

The SAFC is for fuel programming, where does it come into play with the o2?

A programmed ECU is tuned, where does it come into play with o2?

What does the wideband controller connect to and what is it for?

If the A/F gauges aren’t good, then what is used in its place to monitor A/F ratio?

The wideband o2 sensor replaces your stock o2 sensor and can be hooked up to your safc. This will give you an accurate digital readout of your A/F. The safc can then be used to make adjustments to your A/F. You could get a programmed ECU to get the A/F fine tuned even further with out having to use an safc.

P.S. (If any of this is wrong...my bad haha)

Oh yeah why didn’t I think of the wideband o2 sensor replacing the stock one? Oh well.

The ECU and SAFC are used for the same thing so I can get either. The SAFC can be used as the A/F gauge, right?

What does the o2 controller do?

ok, i'm not certain about all of this... ask ogee s13 he just installed most of these tings... But, i think you need to leave the stock o2 sensor (for the engine) get the wideband o2 welded, or bung welded in a little further down the exhaust... the ECU isnt easily tunable like a SAFC would be. The ECU is more for big tuning, the SAFC/AFC is for littler changes, like smoothing out the hp curve (ever seen a really wavy dyno sheet?)

What do you mean by “big tuning”? Is that something over 300? 400? 500?
