I just joined this board- sorry, didn't know it existed!
I'm with a bunch of nice guys that set up 240 meets in Chicago.
Here is the website I set up to announce the meets we have....this is the 2003 version - you can see previous meets we've had with some pics:
www.geocities.com/chicago240sx2003
Here is the new website for 2004- we just had a meet a couple weeks ago!
www.geocities.com/chicago240sx2003
There were meets before 2003 but it's nice to have a central place with all the 240 forums popping up. You should all find Art's e-mail address on that homepage and ask to be included on the chicago meets mailing list.

BTW, Igor!!!!!!!!! I always see you at Nissan meets the past couple years and now you bought a 240sx- funny! I'm James - tall guy -part asian- with the 240sx's......I know I'll see you this year for sure.

hi Igor,
I looked at your webpage and am very impressed with your blood sweat and tears. Nice job- it's alot of fun isn't it (getting dirty/smelling like oil/cutting up your hands)!
I have some extra parts you might be interested in:
SR starter
new Greddy aluminum hotpipe
Blitz FATT turbo timer
new custom 3 inch full exhaust with 3inch high flow catalytic converter and using a Apex'i N1 single that's anodized black/gunmetal it's mounted on one of my 240's that I'm going to possibly part out. Haven't decided yet -but the exhaust is for sale.

I'll give you a deal like how I give all the local people deals- let me know if you're interested- I can help you if you have trouble with wiring the SR- but it's not that bad.
Have a great week,
James

Hi, I'm gonna be picking up 1995 240sx se in like a week. This car has been one of my favorite for a long time and I'm gonna be glad to join the nissan family. By the way, how much does it cost to get a SR20DET black top compare to a red top and how much does installations runs? Any recommended place in Chicago? Thanks in advance!

I got my SR motor set from Garage Kwai it's a good place and all but if I ever would do sap again I would defiantly get front clip instead of just a motor set. It will cost little bit more but you will save few bucks in a long run and ALLOT of headache and frustration spatially if you doing swap your self Trust me I’m in the middle of this right now . Garage Kwai were giving me red top for 2,300 bucks but there is more places where you can get one.

GRD Racing

Garage Kwai

Just call all this guys and see who will give you best price. They are all local shops so they prob can do install as well.
I hope this helps

Garik, I'm going to respectfully disagree with you, o.k.
www.soko.com
That is the only place in Chicago you should be buying motors of any kind from- they have plenty of SR's- can pre-pay for a clip but be prepared to wait a LONG time for it to come from japan. They are a JDM engine importer located next to O'hare airport and you can pick out the engine you want in person- they will deliver for free to your doorstep within a reasonable distance. They are a serious engine importer- don't go looking for stickers- and they don't do installs. Don't waste their time asking questions about swaps- when you're ready to buy- call them.

All the "import" shops just buy from importers like SOKO and charge extra to make some money- just go to the source! You want to save money and see before you buy don't you? Garik had a problem not getting certain parts- and it's taking a long time for GarageKwai to go back to the importer they used and get stuff.
SOKO would be able to solve this on the spot.
so anyway........

I'm not going to say anything about shops doing installs-
I will say that I am willing to do an SR install on the side- but would have to sit down and go through every detail with the person beforehand. I've just met a couple guys w/240+SR installs done by local shops that "didn't turn out as planned".

for sale: 1991 240sx hatchback w/ quality SR installed no mods just reached 500 mile break-in :for sale.
Building/swapping cars is a hobby of mine.

Yeah I wish I Knew abut this place before I got my engine. But I still think when you doing install yourself it will be good idea to get clip because all little things you will need for the swap plus if it is your first swap there will be point of reference to where everything go in the car.

Clip is good/easier- yes.
But if you do your homework it's not a necessity.
