yo man. I live in creve coeur.... Im working on a headgasket swap on my 91 right now, problem is, Im what one would call "inexperienced" in the ways of the wrench, and I cant do this on my own. I have a few friends who work on cars here and there, but we're all HS seniors so we cant really do this on our own. I had an older, VERY experienced friend that was working on it with me, but he seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.

Still doing that head gasket change? I helped a friend with his Probe doing a gasket swap, and also another friend with his MX-6 turbo.

A bit of advice: Get the head hot tanked and magnafluxed once you get it off the block. You'll save yourself alot of potential headache (no pun intended).

Sometimes it's necessary for a head to need re-milling if there's any warping due to overheating, and it's also the best way to ensure that the head isn't cracked.

If either problem is the case, and you don't have it checked beforehand, you'll only have to do the head gasket job again, plus re-milling, or even replacing the head. Why potentially do it twice when you only have to do it once? Speaking from personal experience, if you skip doing those steps, you're only asking for trouble.

Ask a local mechanic shop where they send heads to be hot tanked and magnafluxed. Last I checked, a hot tank and magnaflux costs around $45-60 for a 4 cylinder head. I don't know how much a re-milling would cost.
