So I need some help from the Cali guys on here. I currently live in PA and will be graduating college soon. I'm in the process of building a KA-T but the previous owner of my car removed a ton of the emissions gear. My issue is that I'm trying to get my dream job in Kern County (Mojave/Mohave) and I'm concerned with emissions inspection. I'm trying to find out if I need to pass emissions every year and if y'all have any tips/advice or help you can offer to get my car though emissions.

 

Sup man! Yeah, youre gonna have to pass a dyno smog inspection once a year. Best thing to do is have a spare KA sitting around if you have the time to do the swap prior to inspection; that or have a spare car and the hook up with an inspector who will just run the "stock" car.

 

or know a guy. i knew a guy in tulare county who would pass you for a few hundred more, that was many many years ago though.

 

well, i dont have to dyno smog my car where i live in ca. i guess there aren't enough freeways to legitimize a dyno smog. but my local friend/auto & smog shop owner runs the tester on only one of the pipes of my dual n1. my car passed w/flying colors. & he said that he doesnt care what you run under the hood as long as it passes tail pipe readings. so if you find you right person who is cool like my friend... you could run mega squirt or something, and have your tuner make you a super lean map for smog.
