Question

Hi everyone, I don't know if its the right place to post this but thought i give it a try, I just moved back to cali (ontario area) from houston and wondering if anyone can help me locate a manual seat belt assembly units for the front driver and passenger side for my 93 s13 coupe. I was told that you can't drive around with racing harness here in cali so i'm in search of a set so i won't get into trouble with the police.

If anyone knows anybody selling their manual seat belt like from a s14 or so...or a local junk yard that will sell it cheap let me know.

I asked one place over the internet and they want 100 for the driver/passenger, before s/h+tax, is that a good deal?

For some who are wondering, I took out the automatic belt assembly cuz I hated it, and put in a 4pt harness (got it used) instead. Didn't have a problem driving around in houston with a 4pt harness.

Any help is appreciated, thanx

Wrong thread I believe but no worries, Ive ran 4 points in my old car for about 2 years, pulled over at least 20 times cause the cops couldnt see the shoulder straps. But as soon as they see the harness they'll let you go. I wouldnt waste the money on the belts man.

In the right neighborhoods you'll get a ticket for using a harness unless it's a Schroth... which are the only DOT-comliant harnesses legal for use on public roads.

You just lucked out. normally people who uses harnesses get the fatty "No seat belt" ticket. if your harness is DOT approved, they will check for the label and the expiration date, if its over the expiration date, get ready for a wallet killer ticket. besides, you're driving on the streets, a stock seatbelt is proven to be good enough to protect you. plus regardless of whether or not the harness is DOT approved, if installed incorrectly, it can lead to severe injuries.

Thanks everyone for your opinions, they were very helpful. I guess I'll spend the money to get the stock s14 belts, then I'll be able to drive around and check out this car meet after I put on the silencer cap for my RS*R GT2

Thanx again everyone ^_^

Not to mention that wearing a harness without a roll cage installed is a hazard to yourself since you can't move out of the way in the case of a rollover. you're basically stuck while the roof caves in.
