Is your car a manual shift? Does the system check to make sure the car is in neutral prior to starting it?

Mine is an auto (soon to be manual) but it's an easy over-ride. My friend used his remote start in his 6-speed camaro only to watch his car hop a curb and get stuck in mud. That was a good day lol.

that is the good thing about the viper systems... it can be set up to remot start a standard without the risk of curb jumping... it takes some programing and then a little time tol earn how to get it to work but it will work and be safe every time...

the way it works is... you park the car put in neutral set the ebrake and start the remote start sequence... remove the key get out of the car with it running (in remote start mode)... close the door... and then arm the system... it will set the alarm and turn off the car... now as long as the alarm has not been triggered during the time it has been sitting and the door has not been opened it will remote start... a little bit of programming viper got when it purchased the company that used to make clifford alarm systems...

any quality systemmade these days will do this... and will work on a standard transmission... if the shop that installs alarms in your area says it is illegal then they just dont want to have to deal with any of the possible legal troubles that could come out of it...

i installed audio and alarm systems for 15 years and remot starts on standards has come a long way... after all there is a good percentage of stick **** cars built... and companies want the cash from them as well...
