Help me find a few wires please =)
Help me find a few wires please =)
Hey guys/gals,
I just installed MOST of my new Crimestopper CS2002 alarm tonight... there's a few wires I'm having trouble locating; The best I could find searching online was a generic 1995 240SX wiring key from Bulldog Security. It helped for the most part with locating the key alarm wires (starter, 12v+, etc.) but there's a few that either don't match color-wise, or maybe I just can't seem to find them. if anyone has some info on the following I woud appreciate it:
1. Door lock / unlock wires
The alarm has 2 wires for door locks - pos. or neg. output. I'm still trying to figure out if my car is pos or neg, and I'm still trying to locate the wires to get my door locks to lock / unlock with the alarm remote.
2. Dome light wire
Short of tracing the wire from the dome light all the way up to the drivers-side kick panel, I'm having trouble locating this wire. I need this because I like how the dome light would go on when disarming the alarm (I live in a dark neighborhood with ghosts and stuff LOL)
3. Door pin switch wire
I believe this is what would trigger the alarm if a door was opened and the factory pin switch would go to "open" state. Need to find this wire too.
After a quick snack break, I'm back in the garage to try to finish the install. So far the alarm is working in the most basic mode: arm/disarm/panic works fine, glass break sensor is on, shock sensor is working (too sensitive, but I can adjust it later), but my only two problems seem to be dealing with getting the door locks working, and the pin switch thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. Door lock / unlock wires
Door locks are NEGATIVE output. I managed to locate the wires in an upper harness under the drivers-side dash (like WAY up there) and using a test light attached to ground, I tapped the wire and "click" - doors locked. Tapped the second wire with the same grounded test light and "click - doors unlocked. Problem #1 solved!
2. Dome light wire
Dome light wire was on the same upper harness. The diagrams I used simply said "drivers kick harness" which I assumed was the large fat roll of wires on the left side of the kick panel (in front of the fuse box) but in fact, as mentioned above, I found the "missing" wires in the upper, more concealed harness. Problem #2 solved!
3. Door pin switch wire
No matter what I tried, I couldn't locate the pin switch wire. I was thinking of running an extra wire from the alarm module all the way to the drivers side pin switch, but with a little experimenting (1 blown fuse) I found that I can attach the pin switch monitor wire to the same terminal on the relay as the dome light. Whether the dome light switch (on the ceiling) is on, off, or at "door" setting, the pin switch monitor will still sound the alarm if the pin switch is opened. Also, if the dome light is switched to "on" position while the alarm is armed, that too will set the alarm off. Problem #3 solved!
If anyone needs help locating their wires on an S14 chassis (not just a 95 model), give me a holler. I memorized the locations after jamming my head and arms underneath the drivers side dash for the 3 hours it took me to find the wires themselves
If you have basic electronic skills (say, connecting a aftermarket head unit into your car) then installing an alarm, although intimidating for some, is actually quite easy. Actually, if you were smaller than 5'11", 165 lbs. then it's probably a lot easier (banged my forehead on the brake pedal countless times)
