does it just get softer or does the volume actually go down?

its either your boy did some crazy wiring when he installed the stereo, or the system is stucking too much juice and the alternator doesn't supply enough current at idle. (second would be the cause if using crazy wattage numbers)

well, he's got 4 pioneer DEH-P7600MP head unit and four TS-D160R speakers. I'm not sure wether it gets softer or what you mean by the volume actually going down, but when he comes to a stop or slows down, the volume is decreased but the head unit doesn't display that the volume is turned down. Some person in a chatroom told him to get a 1.0 farad capacitor, but he's not too sure. what's the difference between a 1.0 and a 2.0 capacitor? Anyways, should he get a capacitor or a new alternator or what? Thanx

if you ask me "caps are crap". check the battery and altn. a bigger batt will do more than adding a cap to an old shi**y battery.

it could be an automatic volume thing. a lot of car stereos have them, it adjusts to the ambient noise in the vehicle. you can turn it on or off in the options menu on the reciever.

if it goes back up to normal volume once you get moving, then thats probably what it is.

one of my friends blazers has it, and a friends cavalier.

i know what your talking about twofortyessex...thats a chevy thing my moms van and my stepdads truck do the same thing..im not sure about other makes..depending on the noise of the car, the stereo will actually turn up when your going dont look at it as its going down...it gets louder so the dB level is the same when there is more noise interference.
