"Nuetral/Parking Dissengange Switch"

when I had a stratus, it was stick, and I wanted the alarm that would 'remote start' and the window roll down feature [friend had it it was sweet, specially out here in the desert, Windows let fresh air in and a/c cools off before you even get to it] And they told me it was about $500 alarm+ Install, the thing that got me is he said it would take a long time to install because they needed to install a switch in the stick that would tell the alarm if the car was in neutral so it doesn't roll when it starts

My homegirl just got a new car and was gunna have the TV in her car put into her new jeep, and she said they also had a switch that determined the car was in park before the tv would activate.

Both said it was the law.

That bugs the ish out of me, especially if you intend [i don't I only have 2 seats] to install a tv in the back and the Input to the tv's is an indash tv, you can't put movies on for your kids cuz you're driving? Does anyone know about this?...

Also, I plan on installing all of my components myself, so I was going to bypass it, I was wondering if this is a simple wiring connection/switch or is it more complex?

My plan is to actually have a Monitor[seperate] and an indash DVD/CD/TV Tuner ... do they require the same relay?

Dunno, and it's bugging me i'd rather ask before dropping the money...

if the tv is going in the dash it is the law where it can only be played in park..in the rear seats it shouldnt matter..

If you're gonna do it yourself all you'll need to do is wire the power into the ignition. Then it'll have power whenever the key's on...don't need to wire in a switch. Illegal...but it'll work. Or in an alarm case...constant 12volt power. Just make SURE that you leave it in neutral or you'll kill something when the car jumps.

Yeah not so much worried about the legallities... I want the in dash to work, instead of making it a relay from the ignition/12volt, im going to have an arm/dissarm switch.. same as would be in the shifter case, but instead controlled by me... I drive a 240 and there is no rear seats, only the middle console that im fabricating a fiberglass console for... and I want the passanger to be able to watch a movie, and realisitically... i plan on downloading music videos and burning them on a disc insteadof mp3s,so i've got themusic... and a little bit extra, im too cautious and drive to fast to be trying to watch a movie

Sorry I got to this so late. But the A/V outputs will still output to other screens, just not the main screen while youre driving. In the case of the alarm... use youre ebrake and make sure you pull it up when you get out the car. otherwise, just bypass the clutch as usual. I did. But then again, that's my job.

90% of in dash monitors just have a wire that is supposed to be connected to the ground side of the parking break switch, all you need to do to bypass this, is tie the wire in with the ground, voila TV while you drive. The exception is, like on the pioneer units that have navigation, it actually tracks the car moving and won't let you view any kind of video, but it will still send signal to other screens. I have also seen some that if they have ground on that wire when it turns on, it will say it is hooked up incorrectly and won't let you view. To bypass this, you just have to wire in a togle switch that is grounded when on. Harley

You can do a search on it. There are some tricks that have claimed to work on the pioneer units like the AVIC-N2. Besides, you can always go back to the brain and disconnect the nav piece/gps ant to it. If it isnt mounted out of the way. Pioneer only tracks when you have the gps hooked up, otherwise it can be bypassed with the toggle switch on any ground.

Yah, there are actually 2 points on the board in the AVIC-N2 that you can solder together that will allow you to view video while driving. I know for a fact that this works, but I also know for a fact that you can burn the unit up. We're 1 for 2 on them, lol. You are on your own with trying it, but I doubt Pioneer is going to replace the unit if you do fry it. Just be very careful, the first one we fried, the second one worked fine. Harley
