Forget SONY...

I have the 6.5 3 way speakers (160 watts) and they are alright but not top line quality.Save the dough and get kappa perfects.More dough, but worth it.A freind of mine has them in his car and they sound clean and crisp.

Also stay away from Sony amps. They suck.Spend the money on a nice Rockford amp.

just my 2 cents.

Thumbs down

Don't get Xplod speakers, i heard they are weak on bass. I have the Xplod Detachable Blackface (CDX-M620) and Infinity 6.5 (652i) all around in my 240SX. Its a pretty good and those speaker can handle the bass and so far i'm thinking twice about getting an amp since my ride has alot of bass to being with.

But thats my opinion, its your ride and you do what you want.

Depends on what kind of music you like too. Certain types of speakers respond a little different to types of music. (Digital Bass and if the beat hits fast and hard or slow and deep) All around, I would not go to a retailer to purchase your stuff. Best Buy and Circuit City don't offer the best stuff because the stuff they have are watered down from the purchasing of average consumers. I would talk with people who specialize in stereos. This way, if you have the best, you'll always be happy with it.

Just my 2 cents

i'm going to have to agree....sony makes some good stuff for home audio and video....but their stuff for ICE isn't too hot (with the expection of the head units which i've HEARD were okay)

I have been into speakers for about eight years now. And these other people are telling you NO lie. Sony sucks. Their head units are good. You have to drive over RR croosing pretty fast to get them to skip. But the speakers and amps suck.

Go for a couple of Rockford Punch 12's. Rockford has good amps but my friend boutght two from best buy and they screwed up shortly after install. They were not the norm for Rockford. They do have good amps. Pioneer use to make good amps but I haven't heard anything about them in a long time.
