Sound System Help.....

What does it mean when im playing my bass in my car, the bass will cut off and my bass remote light cuts off too. For example, i would have my music playing then all of a sudden the amp like loses power. Whats the deal? I checked the power cord and it seemed intact, even at the battery end. Then when i shut it off for a little, it comes back on after i turn the whole system off. what could it be???????

the amp could be over heating (most likely)

its not grounded properly

the amp sucks (lol, jk)

the gain is way the h3ll up, as well as the bass boost.

altenator/battery could be going to h3ll over the power consumption.

I'd bet on overheating also. Where is the amp mounted? It may not be getting enough ambient air to cool it efficiently.

i had this problem as well. if you have a amp protection light consult that when the bass cuts out, the amp might be overheating as already mentioned; my problem was that it was a faulty amp, so i sent it back, got a new one and haven't had the problem since.

if its small enough, not likely though, you could install it under the passenager side seat.

or

if you don't have anyone that rides in the backseat, you could pull the seat out and mount it where the seat was, or on the floor

or

mount it on the back of the back seat, and fold it down while driving if no one is riding in the back seat.

or

build you a custom backseat, where one side can fold down and the other side remains upright, and that can allow one rider in the back.

anything above and more will work (maybe not the last one though, LOL)

it should be fine in the trunk compared to under a passenger seat as far as cooling goes (not much space under a s14 seat)... where exactly is the amp mounted right now? Like EXACT POSITION?
