well from what i have read. keichi tsuchia says that drifting basicly came from his racing days. he felt that pushing a car past it's limits in some situations not all, did infact give him the edge to get a better track time.

mind you that this was not the case always but that many times that intering the corner at a high speed and exiting it at a low speed was beter than the oposite.

he enjoyed this"drifting" technic and made a practice of it regularly. and noticed the skill needed to do it, and basicly made it a competition sport.

so some times going in hot and leaving the turn at a slow pace is the better way especially passing someone in a turn. recless sometimes but better.
