This thread is the reason I still come back. Good to see the stang a'sliding still bro!!! Keep it up!

I now have a fully suspension'd up s13 hatch. I sold the zenki. I need another KA while the SR20 is going under the knife for a FULL oem rebuild. I'm hosting the 2nd drift event sept 25, I'll make sure to post pics of this one.

EDIT: On a serious note, i finally sat down and watched the video all the way through, good stuff . . .I do notice, however, that when you go for the manji into the next drift, you don't let the car fully slide to the outside of the turn before you go for the turn in. In other words, it seems that your truncating or stopping your feint.

Remember that whole letting go of the steering wheel thing, it seems like you're stopping the car from doing the natural transition back in the other direction. I dunno, just how it looks on the video. What do you think Motegi?

yea i mean, i wasnt going to critique it cuz im no pro either, but if you want insight then..

yes, def seems that you are stopping the natural inertia of the car..i noticed you were hitting the brakes almost everytime you were about to transition, which should not be done. imho the brakes should never be hit during a manji, only if you are entering a turn so quickly that you lock the brakes for a second, which is generally followed by a clutch kick..

i realise your lsd is poopoo and this is a new car (also rhd) so im not really gona judge, although with the inertia of the car you should still be able to complete a manji regardless of diff crappyness

heres what i do, although im sure you already know this (pretty fun actually, last event i was able to manji the car with my hands never touching the steering wheel except the initial turn) of course this is higher speed stuff.. say you have full throttle max angle, hold that until you are ready to transition, then lift off the gas until the car begins to regain traction on starts going straight again, as u feel the car moving back center give full throttle again and feather it, this will allow you to control your angle via gas pedal instead of the steering wheel.

i hope your not offended by this either b/c im not trying to degrade your abilities or knowledge, you both already prolly know this stuff, but i figured i throw it out there anyways..

oh and i know ur against welded type diff or whatever, but you may want to consider just shimming yours for now or whatnot, only takes like 1 or 2 hours depending on ability and provides a well locked diff for about 7$ (763.38¥ since ur all up in japan now lol)

Nah, DJ's not against welded, his 240's welded. I think he wanted to stick with his VLSD just to learn on it and maintain daily drivability.

I think

I do know that he's going with a 2-way locker, and those are fun! That's going to give him some serious smoke, LOL!

SMOOOOKE!

its nothing wrong with using brakes to shift weight also.. you guys cant see how sharp the corner is.... if i allowed the weight to go all the way out... i would end up on the dirt also all of the pros slide that whole section. dave you are watching the parts of the video where i did kill it to soon lol... i know you are the type to zone in on **** ups becuase you are a instructor.. its cool.. i could have edited them out, but meh... i was doing things on that track that guys who have been here a year have not even tried like drifting close to that wall.. the close full out drifts where not captured sadly. also RHD drifting feels the same moteg.

another thing.. i don't chase the wheel.

not offended at all. ill be shimming the diff this weekend i knew about it for a long time, i just never had a need to do it becuase i didn't own a vlsd back in the states.

ps

lol you never seen my welded diff write up??? i took it out welded it and installed it by myself in about a hour and 30 min or so lol

Yeah, that's all I was talking about, your feints looked like they were stopping (when turning back to the right) before you could get the full effect, like . . .you would be in a NIIIIIICE slide, then you'd hit the manji for the next turn, but before the manji could bring you into an initiating drift, you'd stop it, then go back into your left hander.

GYAH, if I had a place to show you, I'd show you exactly what I mean, basically, when you're in the initial left hander, you slide slide slide slide, then when it manji's right, you stop the car before it hits any angle (basically just bringing it back straight) then it looks almost as if you use the inertia of the car settling to initiate the following left hander and vice versa.

It's at time codes:

0:33
1:11
1:27

Just a few examples, pretty much anywhere where there wasn't enough speed to link the two turns together in succession and manji was necessary.

You're driving is fine, from what I see, you're doing awesome! That's just something I picked up on because I used to do it BAD!

i understand you fully its just not a corner you can SLIDE around lol.. its very sharp... from the video it looks open but its not..

when im good enough, ill just slide all the way around it, in one slide. and im sure you know, all Feint drifts are not deep... they can be deep or shallow depending on the corner coming up.

when i get the sticky pod ill show you. this monday im going to try to slide the whole thing, it will require a much much faster entry as you said. i have plenty of out space.
