Auto/Trans Fluid Change
Auto/Trans Fluid Change
I got a 93' 240 FastBk, with the Auto trans unfortunately. I know I can swap it out for cheap so please don't reply about that. No money now
. Can anyone tell me what they came across changing out the Trans Fluid. It says in the Service Manual to Drain Fluid by removing the trans pan, but does the whole valve assembly come down with it or just the pan. And what about using liquid RTV sealant or must a gasket be used too? Does the fluid inside the torque converter come out to or does that require removing it from the transmission. How do you fill it with new fluid? Im not an idiot I just have to drive this every day so I cant F* anything up that i cant fix the same day. The service manual is pretty vague because the service techs know how to do it. Anyone that could give some advice on this please shoot it back. thanks

all you have to do is remove the pan and that will drain all the fluid out of the pan the valve body does not come down when your taking the tranny pan off and while your in there i would suggest changing the tranny filter which can be picked up at the local parts store and you will get a replacement gasket as well with the kit i wouldnt suggest RTV alone. just dropping the pan will not drain the fluid out of the torque converter that will need to be done w/ a fluid exchange machine. and as far as filling it back up just put the new fluid down the dipstick hole
