Well... I recently bought my 240 and low and behold, the tranny died on me today... Kind of unexpected, but **** happens... anyways, I thought my tranny dying means it's time to convert it to standard, since I wanted to do that anyways.

I found a guy willing to sell me his 240 for $500. the engines blown in it, but that's not the reason I wanted to buy it. I want to buy it cuz it's a 5-speed standard.

So basically, I was wanted to know if his 89 S13 tranny would fit my 97 S14? Will it have everything I need to do a clean conversion? Will some parts not fit, or not work with the S14?

I searched the forum for about an hour trying to answer this question, and found nothing. If a question like this has been posted previously, sorry about that, but I would really like to know before I drop $500 on something I wouldn't be able to use...

Everything will fit, all you'll need to do is swap the speed sensor from the auto tranny to the manual.

 

actually u need a manual s14 speed sensor, not the automatic one.

 

They are the same thing are they not? I'm pretty sure they are interchangeable.

 

SOHC tranny does not fit DOHC you need a DOCH bell housing, as well you need to also transfer the crank angle sensor.

you will also need the lower harness as well.

 

Damn you s14 people. s13's are so easy. Unbolt, remove, install, go. Wiring...splice old to new. Bam. I hate OBD2.

 

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll just go to Superior Trading and grab a tranny for like... 300 bucks with everything needed.
