finished auto to manual conversion
well i finally finished it. it took a little while because i only worked on it on sundays for four or five hours at a time.
it would have been finished two sundays ago if i would have had a pilot bearing.
but anyways it was simple. you just need two people to take and put the tranny off and on.
what makes it easier is dropping the exhaust and putting a helicopter jack underneath the oil pan to tilt the engine and flywheel down.
bypassing the neutral safety switch makes for a great security system too.
but all in all the car runs great. no problems at all.
i bought all the neccessary components for under $200
and i mean everything.
nissan also gave me a 60% discount on an item because i work for toyota. go figure...
but yes under $200 for everything including new clutch and sending out the flywheel to be resurfaced.
but i didnt buy a brake pedal. i just cut it with a dewalt reciprocating saw and placed a brake pedal pad on it that i found laying around.
the only bad thing...not too bad though...i dont have reverse lights. but that is easily fixable with the help of a relay

i'm totally jealous of the both of you. My auto s13 is killing me, i've been looking for a swap forever now. The only one i've found was in VA and the guy wanted over 700 for the swap, NOT including clutch and the flywheel needed resurfacing!

well im jealous your car is black and blingy. ohh well i have that silver bluish color...
but its not an automatic!!!
my bad i didnt mean it like that...jerk
700 is pretty good actually
3-4 hours of labor
transmission 400-500. this one place wanted 600 for a used manual tranny.
flywheel and resurfacing is i dont know how much for flywheel wheel but the resurfacing is $40
but yeah i dont need to run down the list.
all i can say is junk yard. thats where i got everthing except for the pilot bearing, clutch, and shift **** woot.
junk yard junk yard.
buy a new clutch, pilot bearing, and send out the flywheel yourself. and when you are good and ready...give everything to your or a mechanic.

no no, the $700was just for the parts! the full swap minus a clutch and 2 other small parts for $700, thats not a good price @ all. Most people get the swap, clutch and install for that same price.

hehe nice... i'm going to do this hopefully next week with my friend and his brother. They did the swap before. so far i think i spent 80 on the used tranny, 120 for new clutch, 30 for ssbraided clutch line, 20 on new slave. and probably 20 on misc things.

I just had my 90 converted last week. Did a same motor swap and 5 speed conversion, payed 100$ for engine, ecu another auto tranny and wireharness. Then traded my 94 sentra for the labor on the motor swap and conversion, then just had to pay a little over 300$ for the parts for the conversion. So out of pocket around 450$ for motor swap and 5 speed : D
Not to bad I thought. It will hold me over till i get an sr20, then i dont have to pay the 1,000 for the 5 speed conversion later.
*EDIT* My bad, I forgot I did a search and just looked at the date on this thread. Didnt mean to resurect such an old one.
