KA Tranny compatability

Are all KA tranny's compatable? i.e. DOHC tranny work on SOHC? Or S14 tranny work on SOHC?

Don't know... some people are dumb... I guess i didnt help much did i? Well what i would do is go to a wrecking yard, find all the 240's and look at their trannies.. study them hard... and you will find out. After that you can share the wealth of knowledge you gained so us ( the rest of the club240 forums) can benefeit from your sacrifice... that or search some more

I KNOW I KNOW....

Well i wrecked a 90' 240, but handed the junked body to a friend with a wrecked worse sr swapped 240...BUT in exchange, when i bought my 92 Automatic 240, he'd put my wrecked car's tranny in mine for free...(gotta love the barter system, money can suck if you dont have any). So he did. well he used my 90' KA24e transmission to bolt onto the KA24DE motor in the 92 of course... and it works to this day, its just he mentioned a few bell housing bolts didn't line up, so he simply didn't use them, but there was a tight seal and my car is a manual now.

HOWEVER.... MY TURN....
I messed that tranny up, (A) it had 190K on it, (B) i didn't put NEARLY enough gear oil in it and drove for a day or 2 before realizing it, and now the syncros and gears, its all shot to hell. i replased the clutch master cylinder myself which was wow easy...and so for a grad. present, my dad got me a 25K mile tranny from a junk yard. And bright and early tomorrow, im putting it in myself, never done tranny work myself besides shifter work. soooo...
Does any one have a good run down of steps to remove a manual transmission safely and quickly, what bolts, what first to do and what last. cuz tomorrow could be a long day. can't wait to snag 2nd gears again, havn't been able to yet b/c that crappy tranny, couldn't go over 3K rpm's or it would grind
