OK I am going to be buying an S14 and am going to do a tranny swap with the Z33 from a 350Z. I am pretty sure that it will swap fairly easily from what I've seen. So I have two questions. One, am I wrong about the Z33 working? Two, will it matter if I buy a car that is an auto or a manual if I am planning on swapping the tranny anyway? Thank you.

 

Your mating the Z33 6spd Trans to what motor? A stock KA? or are you doing a complete VQ swap?

It shouldn't matter if the car is auto, as long as the neccessary conversions are made to allow the manual trans to function.

 

Yes I am planning on doing the VQ swap. Is there very much extra I'll have to do with this swap if I start with an auto versus a manual? Reason I am asking is that I can get an auto much cheaper than a manual and if they both work about the same I would like the cheaper car = more money for the swap and other parts.

 

youll have to research on the z33 forums what is all involved with the swap, so your doing vq35de right? if so that is badass, ive wanted to for a while but havent had the funds..

 

Auto cheaper than manual? WTF is this world coming to? If the cost in price isnt so drastic, I say spring for the 6 speed becuase the Auto would be pretty lame.

 

No what I'm saying is that I can find an S14 with the KA/auto cheaper than one with the manual, then do the swap. I am definitely going with the 6 speed with the swap.

 

VQ in S14?..never heard of it. Hope it works out man.
