hhhhmmmmmmm, and what can one do about this? is there a better head for the block, or is this the limits of our engines"7-8psi". the reason i am wanting to know is that i am looking for alot more power than the stock motor has, and it is looking like to boost that high i will need a entire motor swap, and i wanted to keep the stock motor and work with it. If 7-8psi is all that it an hadle then i would be saving money by doing either a sr20det or an rb20det.

If you upgrade the headgasket, You can see 10-12psi on stock head and still probably be stable. You will have to upgrade pistons, rods, head work to get some REAL power out of it. But it might be cheaper in the long run to just go for a RB20 or SR

I kinda figured that it would be cheaper to go wwith the swap becuase the upgraded pistons and rods and and stronger mains will cost about the same as a swap would, plus have less potental..
