Sorry if this question is repetative, but I searched the site and couldn't find anything. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to swap in the twin turbo motor out of the 300zx. I have contacted Heavy Throttle and they did not know what was involved with doing one since they never have. If anyone has any info that what be awesome.

it has been done but converted to a single turbo its a hard swap to do. there are other swaps that are better to do and will yeild as much power

 

Yeah, Dusky007 did one. His car is in the Member's Ride Gallery. It's all custom work though. he explain some of the instalation and such. CHeck his ride out and maybe PM him to ask what else is needed. But's it's gonna take a lot of work. And like Catharsis said, it had been converted to single turbo. Many said that the TT won't fit. Never got an answer to why. If you still wanna do it then more power to you. It'd be nice to see a VG30DETT in a 240.

 

The vg30dett is huge!!! Even in the 300zx theres no room on either side of the engine to do anything. For example changing the PCV's is a 3 hour+ job. And looking from the top you can't even see the turbos. There are some 240's with VG's though. Its gonna be a lot of $$ even if you plan to do most of the work yourself.

 

Yeah, it's tightly packed in there. It's a bit** to work on I've heard. Good luck if you want to do that.

 

Hey I appreciate it guys....I will have to look into it a bit more. I had just thought it would be something a little bit different. When they fit the rb26 motors in...do they have to make it single turbo as well, or is that engine a little smaller so it fits better?

 

the rb26 can be kept twin turbo with mckinneys mount kit.

 

So could there be a mount kit made to fit both turbos for the vg30dett engine?

 

Prob not since it isn't a common swap, or at least as common as the RB one. You might wanna try and fabricate one though. Tell me how things go.

 

Yea definitly...I have a feeling it wont be for awhile though, lots of work and things to figure out lol
